We couldn't have found better accommodation than this apartment right at the heart of the island's capital city, in the Triana district. Not only is the decor fabulous (modern and minimalist, respecting the original structure) but the location is excellent. Just a step away are restaurants where you can discover Gran Canaria's marvellous culinary tradition and there are also cafes, bars and shops. You are almost obliged to eat "papas arrugadas con mojo" (Canarian wrinkly potatoes with a spicy sauce) every day and you also have to try "gofio" and some of the prizewinning cheeses. When I travel, I love to feel at home, feel that it's all familiar, that I am not a stranger to the place and that everything I use every day is there too. Resting in a comfortable bed after an intense day sightseeing is crucial – but sipping a fresh cup of coffee as you look out over your bedroom balcony is a real pleasure.
